MapleWood Farm - Now and Then

This is our farm now and then (exact year not known). I think this image of the women "haying" at Maplewood Farm is so great! I also love the caption, because it says "according to Lila", who also lived here before our Lila. The "original" Lila of Maplewood Farm was 1 of 4 orphan girls taken on by one of the great grandaughters of the builders of our home. Lila and her husband also were married here. Picture and history credit - Bruce Greer.

mirror how to...

From the post below of the fun mirror, I've gotten several questions on how to do it. Not having tried it myself, I suggest using paper and Modge Podge adhesive (which can be found at JoAnn or any craft store). Apply the cut papers with the Modge Podge and once it dries, apply a coat of it over it again. Hope this helps and if anyone tries this with success, send me a picture!! :) Have fun!

fun to try

I'm not sure where I came across this photo, so I apologize for not giving credit where due (if you know, let me know), but I think this could be such a cool project to try and customize to your decor. Maybe for me for the spring Homegirl sale.

Beads of Change

Mahjong tile bracelets can be purchased through Homegirl for $20 (plus shipping). All proceeds are given to help a small village in Uganda, Africa called Namyoya. They are made by Joanne Weaver of Naperville, IL (Beads of Change) who I met this summer at the Coutry Living Fair. If you would like to learn more about the village, you can visit, lukegeneafrica.blogspot.com.
They can make such a cool present for someone (or yourself) and I have 6, that have great sayings.
"In a world where you can be anything, be yourself".
"Remember: Peace still works. Love is the answer. Follow your heart."
"Look at life with joy."
"The best accesory a girl can have is a friend."
"Peace begins with a smile." - Mother Teresa
"Always act like you are wearing an invisible crown."

Lifestyles with Rebecca

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a relaxing holiday! I myself am ready to get back into the routine after a long needed break! I think I will be on 'Lifestyles with Rebecca' this coming Sunday 1/10 at 3pm on PBS here in Northeast Ohio, if you would like to check it out. Check your listings for your area. It should say in the show title who the guests are. It is a cool show and the people featured are unique and have chosen interesting lines of work to pursue. You may be inspired!
